Ian attended Suffolk University Law School from 2006 to 2009. He was on the Dean's list for several semesters and graduated within the top third of his law school class. Ian's concentrations were in intellectual property law, including patent law, trademark, and copyright. During law school, Ian worked for the Suffolk County District Attorney's office in the gang violence division.

Ian graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2003 with a degree in computer science. While at RIT, Ian spent several semesters on the Dean's list and graduated a semester early. He concentrated in software engineering and systems programming. He also participated in a 1 year co-op program where he designed commercial software.
The majority of Ian's practice consists of family law and divorce. He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association family law section. In 2014 he became certified to practice collaborative divorce.
While attending law school Ian took a position as a summer associate with the Manchester law firm, Wiggin & Nourie. Ian was later employed by the Suffolk County District Attorney's office in Boston, MA.
In 2013, Ian decided to use his entrepreneurial and business background to open his own law office in Portsmouth, NH. Ian's primary focus is in the areas of divorce and family law.

Prior Experience - Before Legal Practice

In 2006, while living in Boston, Ian created a website that integrated available apartment rentals with Google Maps. MyApartmentMap was one of the very first map based real estate search engines. It was featured in Time Magazine, USA Today, The Metro, WMUR TV (Channel 9), WCVB TV (Channel 5), Fox News, and many other media outlets. After only 3 years MyApartmentMap was averaging 6 million yearly visitors and gross revenue in excess of 2 million USD.

Ian, along with his wife, Katie, founded Sagamore Lobster in 2006. Sagamore Lobster shipped live lobsters all over the United States. Between 2006 and 2008 the company's gross sales increased from $0 to $500,000 USD per year. Sagamore Lobster closed in 2008 as MyApartmentMap began to receive national attention and demanded all of Ian and Katie's time.

Alstom, Autonomy Search, Fast Search & Transfer
After graduating for RIT, Ian developed complex train and railway control software for Alstom Signalling in Rochester, NY. Ian moved to Boston, MA where he was a sales engineer for Autonomy (now a unit of Hewlett-Packard). His last job as a software engineer was for Fast Search (now a unit of Microsoft) developing internet search engines.

Family & Personal Interest
Ian was born and raised in Seacoast New Hampshire. He currently lives in Rye with his wife Katie, his 6 month old son Robbie, and their 3 dogs, Daisy, Jerry, and Jack.
When not working or taking care of Robbie (which isn't often now a days), Ian enjoys skiing, hiking and playing golf.
